RECENT PICTURES

COMMENTS

The following recent pictures were found in various Chinese publications by my friend Leigh, who runs the "Free Man In Hong Kong, Chow Yun Fat" webpage (see link below). The articles and captions were translated by Alan Tang's long-time fan Irene. Irene also sent some newspaper clippings as well. Where possible, links to the original Chinese publications are provided. I was unable to ask permission to use these references as I do not read Chinese and Irene does not have Chinese software. Since this webpage is dedicated to the career of Alan Tang, I hope no one minds my including these pictures of him on it. If anyone associated with the materials below views this page, I would be very pleased if you would contact me (see link below).

PICTURES FROM 2001

These three pictures are scans from a fifteen minute video interview of Alan Tang at the link below. I do not know how long this video, which is in Cantonese, will be on line. According to Alan Tang fan Irene, Alan Tang talks about his German Pointer Kowloon Dog Club and its activities. He says that they help teach people how to select a good dog and train them. The Club's competitions attract large crowds of ten to twenty thousand. It addition, Tang praised his wife Janet for being very sociable and getting along well with many friends. He commented that he had no plans to retire from his business interests. Tang was praised by the lady interviewer for maintaining his good looks and being very handsome.

PICTURES FROM DOG SHOW AND OTHER ACTIVITIES IN 2000

The following information came from Irene's translation of the articles on Alan Tang's involvement in dog shows. The articles talk about Alan Tang's love for dogs, especially German Pointers. Tang became acquainted with dogs when his father gave him one as a youth. This experience led him to become involved with all sorts of dogs. Note: you can read about some of his early experiences with dogs in 1970's Articles Section (see link below). Since owning his first dog, Tang has been involved in all kinds of dog shows in Hong Kong, spending both time and money. See also the early picture of Alan Tang showing his dog at a show on the home page (see link below).

Recently, a German Breed Dog Club (Pointers ?) was set up and Tang was appointed the chairman. The 800 club members do volunteer work. Tang hopes the government will allow a charity donation for a piece of property where a facility could be set up to allow all kinds of dogs to go through DNA testing and matching. The purpose would be to do some research on dog genetics, especially with German Pointers. When asked if the hot and humid weather in Hong Kong is suitable for Pointers, Tang answered that the most important thing for them is to keep the environment clean.

Tang said that all his family members are dog lovers. He owns 20 dogs, and whenever he is out of town on business they take care of them for him.
